Chrislam and One World Religion

Chrislam is a syncretic religion which combines the teachings and practices of the Abrahamic faiths of Christianity and Islam [1][2A].

Chrislam represents an attempt to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam.  The goal (laudable on its face, but misleading) is to build tolerance, trust, and mutual understanding, in order to foster peace and justice [3].

Historically, Chrislam arose in Nigeria in the 1970s.  The God of the Judeo-Christian Bible and the Allah of the Quran are considered to be the same deity by Chrislam.

Consequently, Chrislam recognizes both the Bible and Quran as holy books, and reads from both during services.  Both Christian and Muslim holidays are celebrated equally, including Eid al-Adha, a feast commemorating Abraham’s supposed sacrifice of his son Ishmael at Allah’s command (a false claim) [4A].

Syncretic Religions

Other examples of syncretic religions include Santeria which blends West African Yoruba traditions with Catholicism; Rastafarianism which combines Christianity with Ethiopianism and pan-Africanism; and Unitarian Universalism which combines elements of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, paganism, humanism, and other belief systems.

The House of One in Berlin has three separate sections under a single roof where worshipers can pray (a church, a mosque, and a synagogue) [4B].  These are linked by a communal room where worshipers and members of the public can come together, and learn more about one another.

The Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi has a comparable arrangement, with a courtyard between buildings.

Fundamental Differences

Bible-believing Christians are aware that Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God [5].  These two belief systems have fundamental differences insofar as their understanding of the nature of God.  Muslims deny the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, and Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for our sins.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” (Gen. 1: 26).

Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,  Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9: 6).

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53: 5).

Muslims do acknowledge the existence of the Holy Spirit (Ruh al-Qudus in Arabic), but primarily as the angel Gabriel, a messenger of revelation, not a distinct Person in the Trinity [6].

Christian belief in the divinity of Christ, and His sacrificial death is central to the Gospel message of Salvation by grace through faith [2B].  This differs significantly from the Islamic concept of earning Paradise through good works, and submission to the will of Allah [2C].

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4: 12).

We need not compromise of our beliefs to work for peace.  But we can expect pressure to do so.

One World Religion

The Bible warns us that there will be a one world religion in the End Times [7].  There will be those who argue religious differences have been the cause of most wars, who will argue any who oppose the one world religion are hatemongers.  There are already hints of this.

The Apostle John called this one world religion Mystery Babylon, describing it symbolically as a woman allied with the antichrist, filthy with idolatry, and drunk on the blood of the saints.

So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness.  And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.  The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.   And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS
OF THE EARTH.

I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.  And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement” (Rev. 17: 3-6).

That Mystery Babylon will be drunk on the blood of the saints suggests (in this writer’s view, at any rate) that those who believe in a Pre-Tribulation rapture are mistaken.  However long or short our time here, we must pray for the courage to remain faithful.

Thanks for this warning, Anna. As rightly pointed out, we can’t join Muslims in unity talks, as happens here in my country also on the part of some ‘liberal’ church and Islamic leaders. Rather we endeavor to humbly evangelize them by word, deed and personal concern. Over many years here in my city, we have mobilized Christians to evangelize Muslim citizens via personal relationships, etc. Also during an interdenominational ‘prayer and missions awakening’ in our city in the 1990’s and 2000’s, we sent out pioneer missionaries into Mozambique and Malawi (Africa), Egypt, Turkey, Uzbekistan (that door closed), even Iraq. As you know, the fastest growing Church in the world is now found in Iran. More and more Muslims are finding Christ, via dreams, visions, etc. This is so heartening! Locally one of our aged missionaries still serves in an outreach to Muslim prisoners in our largest jail complex via literature and visits. ‘Lord, pour out your Spirit, on all the people of the earth,’ as one song says!

As a “pre-tribber”😉, I also subscribe to mid- and post- tribulation views. There will be a tri-part rapture of those who believe in Jesus, as explained by Dr. James Christie in “The Gold Mine,” available for free here: https://thepatmosproject.com/book-release-the-gold-mine/. All three views are correct; the problem lies in people seeing one set of verses and concluding, “Oh, THAT’s how it will unfold.”

However, though expecting Jesus’ first rescue of those who have placed their faith in Him before the Great Tribulation begins, this is not a “get out of here free and fast” card that means Christians will not suffer persecution in these last days.

Many believe this error, that they do not have to be concerned for persecution, that Jesus will come before it begins, but anyone watching global events can see serious persecution already in so many nations and now starting in the last bastion of Biblically based freedoms, the USA.

“Lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near,” but not as fast as some hope. “The one that endures to the end will be saved.”

    ❤️&🙏, c.a.

The groundwork is being laid for the coming “lawless one” and his false prophet. In my almost 50 years of living for the Lord I do not believe I have ever felt the need to dig deeper into the Word of God than I do now. There is so much deception in the world and in the Church that unless one is grounded firmly upon the Word, they will be deceived, just as Jesus said the elect would be. Without question, the Church will be here to support Israel during Jacob’s Trouble, aka the Great Tribulation for Christians.

To the Church-do not allow the enemy to lull you into a false sense of security by believing a doctrine conceived by John Nelson Darby!

There is such darkness in each of these syncretic religions/practices that reading of them made me shudder. I had not heard of some of these. You’re right of course. We must not compromise the truth for peace.
