Decisions
As legal professionals, we are faced with countless decisions. Even when we seek the Lord’s guidance, we do not always “feel” certain we have made the right choice. So many factors to be weighed, so many intangibles…and so much riding on the outcome.
We’d prefer the certainty of the burning bush, a neon sign pointing to the correct course of action.
We are, of course, called upon to use all the skill and judgment of which we are capable; to make each decision with care. Over and apart from this though, we have God’s assurance that He remains sovereign and, in fact, guides our every step.
When the weight of responsibility bears down on us, there is great comfort in this.
“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps” (Prov. 16: 9).
Father, we seek Your guidance and acknowledge our dependence on You.
So many responsibilities weigh upon us. We are called upon constantly by our profession to make decisions impacting the lives of others. This takes a toll on us, willing though we are to serve.
Stand by us, Father, even when we are too pressed to ask that You do. Direct our steps, even when the way does not seem clear. We commit ourselves and our work to You.
Amen
