“The Men and Women We Serve” by A. Sangrey

December 11, 2016

This is an update from Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia (CLCP), a non-profit I had a small part in launching years ago.  The volunteer attorneys who continue to serve the poor of Philadelphia are amazing.  Here are just two of their stories [1].

To preach good tidings to the poor…to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives…” (Isaiah 61: 1).

The Men and Women We Serve

“Ms. Eva Rodriguez came to us for help.  Earlier this year, she became entangled in a case where her aggressor filed a criminal complaint after she had responded in self-protection to his hostility. Through our attorneys’ involvement, the criminal charges were dropped.

For Mr. Luiz Rivera, family is his number one priority, and a matter with child custody hindered him from being involved consistently.  ‘First and foremost, I am a father,’ he said.  ‘My boys are everything.’

From a son without a father-figure to a dad who has chosen to leave a different legacy for his teenage boys, Mr. Rivera found legal help through several of our attorneys.”

    This is wonderful!!

    • God is at work in Philadelphia and elsewhere around the country. Christian legal clinics are independently operated from one another. But their impact is substantial. There have been thousands upon thousands of hours devoted to providing the underprivileged legal representation and necessary social services, while sharing the Word of God.

      • I love that. A dear friend (like a dear aunt) is a lawyer and she donated her services to me as a gift when I was pregnant with my daughter. It is a blessing to have lawyers who will serve those who might not otherwise get the help they need. She was like an angel in the middle of scary circumstances.

      • I’m glad she was there for you.

I think it’s wonderful what you are doing, Anna. God bless you as you continue to help those who can’t help themselves. 🙂

    • All the credit goes to the men and women who give their time free of charge for the love of God and their neighbor.

I am sure God is most pleased with you all. Bless you, Anna. 🙂

  5. Thank you for sharing these wonderful stories and the way God is ultimately providing for those who most need help.
