Rabboni

“Christ’s Appearance to Mary Magdalene after the Resurrection” by Alexander Ivanov (1835), Russian State Museum, St. Petersburg (PD-Art, Age-100)
“…she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?’
“She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, ‘Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.’
“Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’
She turned and said to Him, ‘Rabboni!’ ” (which is to say, Teacher)” (John 20: 14-16).
Have a blessed Easter!

I wonder if we are so very different from Mary Magdalene, Anna. Oftentimes he is in our midst, yet we fail to recognize him for who he is.
That was exactly my feeling, Ron.
This post made me realize something. We can miss the spirit of God or the son or the father even when he is right next to us. But, God helps our indignities by calling us by name to reveal himself. The list us endless- Mary, Moses, Saul (Paul), Samuel. It is a wonderful thing when God choses to call people by their names. It is no ordinary name-calling. It is a spiritual revelation. Thanks for sharing. 💕
Like you, I found Christ’s use of Mary’s name very moving. It is amazing that the Master of the Universe should know us each so intimately, and care for us each so tenderly. ❤
