Starvation in the Name of Faith

As this world grows darker, the horrors increase.
A purportedly Christian church in Kenya known as Good News International Ministries or the Malindi cult engaged in mass murder by starvation and the illegal — though highly lucrative — sale of body parts, believed to have been forcibly harvested from victims [1A][2].
“Nothing prepares you for shallow mass graves of children,”
–Hussein Khalid, Executive Director of Haki Africa [3A]
A total of 133 bodies have been exhumed since mass graves were uncovered last month [1B]. The majority are those of children. Church members were told that starvation was the only way to God. The cult apparently required that children be starved first.
Though starvation was the primary cause of death, victims of the Shakahola Forest Massacre (as this travesty has been dubbed) were, also, beaten, strangled, or suffocated.
Led by televangelist Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, Good News International is only one rogue church operating on the fringes of Christianity in Kenya [3B]. Televangelist Ezekiel Odero of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church was recently arrested on similar charges [4A].
Kenyan Pres. William Ruto characterized these cults as domestic terrorists [4B].
“…Take heed that no one deceives you…For false christs and false prophets will rise [in the last days] and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect“ (Matt. 24: 4, 24).

Thank you for sharing. Such an awful thing! 😥 These cult leaders are so dangerous and are deceived themselves, leading many astray. It is so sad people are thirsty for God and they end up in situations like this.
Sadly, these deceptions are on the increase, Petrina.

It is inconceivable for normal people that anyone could do such cruelty to other living beings. Unfortunately, nothing has changed to this day that such inhumanity exists. There remains only the hope of consolation in God. LG, M.
You are so right, Marie.
Absolutely horrendous and beyond words! Fellow-bloggers, Patrick and Virginia Maina from Kenya, are currently re-launching Virginia’s book ‘The Bride Breaks Free’ (A Journey Into, Through & Out Of Toxic Church) in an attempt to alert the Church against all deception in these critical days. We must pray for followers of Jesus (alone) all over the globe to stand up against all these hyper-controlling and demon-possessed ‘churches.’ This scourge is in Kenya, all over Africa, the USA and beyond.
Yes, it is tragic, Erroll.
When I originally saw this, my first thought was, “I hope Kenya has the death penalty.” Not a merciful sentiment, but one I believe would be just.
Like you, I feel the death penalty is justified in certain cases. Above all, however, I look to the Last Judgment. Only God can render justice on an eternal scale for such wrongs.
Yes, that is certainly the true Judgment. My support of the death penalty is for certain crimes in which there is the clear potential for future victims. Child rapists, for example, in my opinion, have forfeited their right to have the potential to ruin another life.
Now, if we had a true life without parole option, things would be different. But recidivism, again in my opinion, lays part of the responsibility for future victims at the feet of the judicial system, and society at large.
According to the US Sentencing Commission, 47% of those serving life terms in the federal system were convicted of murder. As I am sure you know, there is biblical support for the death penalty, in cases of murder. “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man” (Gen. 9: 6).
The US Supreme Court first struck down then reinstated the death penalty. The central issues are whether capital punishment inherently constitutes the cruel and unusual punishment prohibited by the Constitution, and whether adequate safeguards can be put in place to assure fair application.
I agree that parole should not be available where life sentences have been appropriately imposed. Actions must have consequences. According to the US Dept. of Justice, however, an increased chance of being caught is a far greater deterrent than severe punishment.
Parole, on the other hand, is based on the concept of reform. Unfortunately, our judicial system does not seem capable of reform. According to WiseVoter, some 44% of released criminals return to prison w/i a year. Only Christ, of course, can genuinely change the heart.
As for child rapists, chemical castration is the best option currently available.
